Mohana Roy, a ninth-grade student of Shaheed Kamel Model High School, and her team were excited after making a robocar using breadboard, motors, and circuits and driving it through coding.
On the other hand, Oishee, a tenth-grade student of Ali Ahmed Government Girls High School, expressed her feelings of participating in the STEM Fest by talking to an animation character using Scratch programming blocks.
STEM Fest 2025 was celebrated in Tala Upazila of Satkhira with the participation of more than 150 students like Saima and Oishee.
Organized under the science and information technology-based ‘STEM and ICT Skills for the Girls of Coastal Area’ project for girl students in remote coastal areas, this fest saw young students from a total of seven schools in Tala Upazila showcase their technical skills and innovative ideas in a total of 18 science-based projects, 22 poster presentations, programming contests, quiz competitions, robotics competitions and various activities.
The project has been organizing skill development training workshops for students of Shahid Ali Ahmed Government Girls’ High School and Shahid Kamel Model High School in Tala Upazila, especially for girl students, with the aim of instilling an attitude among students to use technology and science to solve practical problems and to develop them into skilled workers in the field of technology. In continuation of this, this STEM fest was organized to encourage students to work in technology and science. This year, through the project, two female students were selected for the school-based Mathematics Olympiad and participated in the national phase of the Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad in Dhaka for the first time.
The students created projects with various innovative ideas including eco-friendly factories, sustainable cities, smart homes. In addition, various topics including artificial intelligence, the basics of software development were presented in the students’ poster presentations.
At the closing ceremony of the fest, the Upazila Executive Officer of Tala Upazila Mr. Md. Russell, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Sheikh Firoz Ahmed and the project manager of the project Shakhira Afroz handed over the awards to the winning students. In his speech as the chief guest, the Upazila Executive Officer said, “To survive in the technology-based world of the future, we have to develop into modern people where there is no alternative to acquiring technology-based skills.”
The participating schools in this fest, organized by Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) under the patronage of Malala Fund, are Shahid Kamel Model High School, Shahid Ali Ahmed Government Girls High School, Tala Brazen Dey Government High School, Samakal Secondary School, Jagarani Secondary School and Subhashini Secondary School.

ব্রেডবোর্ড, মোটর ও সার্কিট এর সংযোগে রোবোকার তৈরী করে কোডিং এর মাধ্যমে তা চালনা করার পর উচ্ছসিত শহীদ কামেল মডেল উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের নবম শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী মোহনা রায় ও তার দল।
অন্যদিকে স্ক্র্যাচ প্রোগ্রামিং এর ব্লকের সাহায্যে এনিমেশন ক্যারেক্টয়ার এর কথোপকথনে স্টেম ফেস্টে অংশগ্রহণের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করে আলী আহম্মদ সরকারি বালিকা উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের দশম শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী ঐশী।
সায়মা ও ঐশীর মত প্রায় দেড়শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থীর অংশগ্রহণে সাতক্ষীরার তালা উপজেলায় উদযাপিত হল স্টেম ফেস্ট ২০২৫।
উপকূলের প্রত্যন্ত এলাকায় মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য পরিচালিত বিজ্ঞান ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিভিত্তিক ‘স্টেম এন্ড আইসিটি স্কিলস ফর দ্যা গার্লস অফ কোস্টাল এরিয়া’-প্রকল্পের আওতায় আয়োজিত এই ফেস্টে তালা উপজেলার মোট সাতটি বিদ্যালয়ের ক্ষুদে শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের প্রযুক্তিগত দক্ষতা ও উদ্ভাবনী আইডিয়া নিয়ে মোট ১৮ টি বিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক প্রকল্প, ২২টি পোস্টার প্রেজেন্টেশন সহ প্রোগ্রামিং কন্টেস্ট, কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা, রোবটিক্স প্রতিযোগিতা সহ বিভিন্ন কর্মকান্ডে তাদের দক্ষতা দেখায়।
শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে বাস্তবিক সমস্যা সমাধানে প্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞানকে কাজে লাগানোর মনোভাব সৃষ্টি ও প্রযুক্তির কর্মক্ষেত্রের জন্য দক্ষ হয়ে গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে তালা উপজেলার শহীদ আলী আহম্মদ সরকারী বালিকা উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় ও শহীদ কামেল মডেল উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী, বিশেষ করে মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালা আয়োজন করে আসছে প্রকল্পটি। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞানভিত্তক কাজের উৎসাহ দিতে আয়োজিত হল এই স্টেম ফেস্ট। এই বছর প্রকল্পটির মাধ্যমে দুজন মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থী স্কুল ভিত্তিক গণিত অলিম্পিয়াডে নির্বাচিত হয়ে প্রথমবারের মত ঢাকায় বাংলাদেশ গণিত অলিম্পিয়াডের জাতীয় পর্বে অংশগ্রহণ করে।
পরিবেশবান্ধব কারখানা, সাসটেইনএবল সিটি, স্মার্ট হোম সহ বিভিন্ন উদ্ভবনী আইডিয়া নিয়ে প্রকল্প তৈরী করে শিক্ষার্থীরা। এছাড়াও কৃত্তিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা, সফটওয়্যার তৈরীর আদ্যোপান্ত সহ বিভিন্ন বিষয় উঠে আসে শিক্ষার্থীদের পোস্টার উপস্থাপনায়।
ফেস্টের সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠানে বিজয়ী শিক্ষার্থীদের হাতে পুরষ্কার তুলে দেন তালা উপজেলার উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা জনাব মো: রাসেল, উপজেলা মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা কর্মকর্তা শেখ ফিরোজ আহমেদ এবং প্রকল্পের প্রকল্প ব্যবস্থাপক শাখিরা আফরোজ। প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা বলেন, “ভবিষ্যতের প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর বিশ্বে টিকে থাকতে হলে আধুনিক মানুষ হয়ে গড়ে উঠতে হবে যেখানে প্রযুক্তিভিত্তিক দক্ষতা অর্জনের কোন বিকল্প নেই” ।
মালালা ফান্ডের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় বাংলাদেশ ফ্রিডম ফাউন্ডেশন (বিএফএফ) ও বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্ক (বিডিওএসএন) এর উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত এই ফেস্টে অংশগ্রহণকারী স্কুলগুলো হল- শহীদ কামেল মডেল হাইস্কুল, শহীদ আলী আহম্মদ সরকারি বালিকা উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়, তালা ব্রজেন দে সরকারি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়, সমকাল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যাপীঠ, জাগরণী মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় ও সুভাষিণী মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়।
