Dhaka, 21 February 2025:
Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, stated that excessive noise poses serious risks to public health and the environment.
She emphasized the need for awareness and collective efforts to control noise pollution. All hospitals and residential areas, must be kept noise-free.
The Environment Secretary made these remarks while inaugurating the ‘Horn Usage Discouragement’ campaign today in front of Osmani Udyan, opposite Gate No. 1 of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.

The campaign aims to raise public awareness at seven key points in the capital.
Farhina Ahmed further stated that the campaign will include awareness programs on noise pollution control. Additionally, mobile courts will take legal action against unauthorized horn usage.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Director General of the Department of Environment; Additional Secretary Dr. Fahmida Khanom, and Md. Khairul Hasan; as well as representatives from the ministry, the Department of Environment, environmental organizations, and students.
This campaign will be implemented in front of the Secretariat, Education Building, Zero Point, Paltan Intersection, Kadam Fountain, and in front of key locations in Agargaon, including the Children’s Hospital, Pangu Hospital, Betar Mor, and Neuroscience Hospital.
