Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has invited top US businessman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh and proposed launching Starlink satellite services in the country.
In a letter sent to Musk on February 19, the chief advisor noted that his visit to Bangladesh will provide an opportunity to meet the youth of the country, who will be one of the main beneficiaries of this pioneering technology.
In the letter, the Chief Advisor said, “Let us work together to build a better future.”
The letter also said, “If Starlink is connected to Bangladesh’s infrastructure, it will bring revolutionary changes, especially for the country’s energetic youth, rural and underprivileged women, and remote and backward communities.”
The Chief Advisor has instructed his high-level representative, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, to coordinate closely with the SpaceX team and complete the necessary activities. So that the ground can be prepared for the launch of Starlink in Bangladesh within the next ninety working days.
Professor Yunus had a long phone conversation with Elon Musk on February 13. During this time, the prospects for future cooperation and the progress of the launch of Starlink satellite internet services in Bangladesh were discussed.
