Dhaka March 4 2025:

BRAC Bank, in collaboration with VisionSpring, will provide eye screenings to more than 46,000 people in 2025 as part of its flagship CSR initiative, ‘Aporajeyo Ami.’

BRAC Bank is scaling up the program this year to include its head office staff and TARA customers after successfully offering eye care services to over 15,000 factory workers from its corporate and SME client base and 350 non-executive bank employees in 2024.

Last year, among the 15,000+ individuals screened, 38% needed glasses for better vision, while 84% were first-time eyeglass wearers. The bank distributed 5,916 prescription glasses, significantly enhancing their quality of life. 3,346 women and 2,570 men received glasses, demonstrating the program’s impact in providing essential vision care to underserved workers who previously lacked eye health services.

BRAC Bank’s ‘Aporajeyo Ami’ is an industry-leading CSR initiative that promotes disability inclusion and healthcare accessibility. This eye care program aims to improve productivity, extend employment longevity, and enhance overall well-being for individuals facing financial or social barriers to accessing such services.

VisionSpring, a U.S.-based social enterprise, increases earning potential, learning capacity, safety, and well-being through affordable eyeglasses. Through its Clear Vision Workplaces (CVW) program, VisionSpring offers vision screenings and low-cost eyeglasses to workers earning less than $4 a day.

The ‘Aporajeyo Ami’ initiative exemplifies BRAC Bank’s commitment to social impact, highlighting its dedication to fostering an inclusive society where everyone can realise their full potential.

BRAC Bank is a values-based organisation focused on breaking financial barriers and addressing social taboos through its CSR initiatives. The bank strives to create opportunities, ensure access, and enable individuals to realise their potential and lead meaningful lives.
