Int. community to ensure Rohingya repatriation through a roadmap: Touhid

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today said that the international community must demonstrate to ensure the repatriation of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), the Rohingyas to their motherland in Rakhine State through a roadmap.

“The process should start immediately,” he said while newly appointed Australian high commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle paid a courtesy call on him at the foreign ministry here.

In reply, the envoy said that her government is ready to work with Bangladesh regarding the Rohingya issue.

She also assured to extend necessary support for the early repatriation of the Rohingyas to their homeland.

During the meeting, various issues of mutual interest including trade, investment, migration, visa facilitation were discussed.

The foreign adviser emphasized on the importance of enhancing collaboration between Bangladesh’s Technical Training Centres (TTCs) and Australia’s Technical and Further Education (TAFE).

He said the Australian partnership would give international recognition to the technical education standards of Bangladesh to enable the overseas mobility of the skilled workforce.

Hossain congratulated the High Commissioner for her new role and assured her to provide necessary support during her tenure in Bangladesh.
