Dhaka March 18 2025:
The Government of Japan extended a grant of USD 75,964, which is approximately BDT 9.1 million to Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS).
SAIDA Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, signed the ‘Grant Contract’ for Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) at the Embassy of Japan on March 17 2025.
TMSS has been awarded USD 75,964 as grant for “The Project for the Installation of the Water Production Equipment in Shajahanpur Upazila, Bogura District”. TMSS has been operating activities related to women’s empowerment, human rights and social issues, poverty issues and disaster management. With the assistance of the GGHSP funding, TMSS will install a water production equipment that will ensure access to safe and adequate drinking water, to improve the quality of life for the local residents and students at Jobeda Foundation Nursing Institute (JFNI) campus in Bogura District.
Japan has supported 221 NGO projects through GGHSP since 1989 with the view to enhancing economic and social human security in the grass-roots levels. The total sum of these GGHSP grants extended to approximately USD 17.5 million.
