Rampal, Bagerhat, 20 February 2025:
Pratibha Roy, a class 10 student of Perikhali Model Secondary School in Rampal upazila, has created a poster on artificial intelligence. Pratibha knows that in a short time, people skilled in artificial intelligence will occupy a large place in the workplace. Therefore, after taking training on robotics and programming outside of classroom studies, she participated in the STEM Fest contests.
Like Pratibha, about 150 other students from Rampal upazila participated in the STEM and ICT Skills for the Girls of Coastal Area project in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat, under the initiative of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation, a science and information technology-based STEM Fest-2025 was organized.
Students from seven secondary schools in Rampal Upazila participated in various events including programming contest, science-based project exhibition, poster presentation on innovative ideas, robotics competition, etc. in this day-long fest held at the premises of Perikhali Model Secondary School in Rampal. The schools include Perikhali Model High School, Barakatali Multipurpose High School, Jhanjhania Secondary School, Dakra Multipurpose Secondary School, Rampal Pilot Secondary School, Sriphaltala Secondary School and Perikhali Dakhil Madrasa.
Umme Hasiba Arnar, a class 10 student of Perikhali School, was quite upset when the motor of the robocar did not work properly in the robotics contest. However, Arnar vowed to practice more after being upset in the contest. On the other hand, after the teacher training organized under this STEM project, Siam, a student of Jhanjhania Secondary School, tried to make a line-following robot car using the robotics kit provided by the upazila authorities. Along with the six schools, 6 girl students of Perikhali Madrasa also won awards in project presentation by making their own automatic lights.
Assistant Commissioner Land Mr. Aftab Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the fest. Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mr. SA Anwarul Quddus, STEM Project Project Manager Shakhira Afroz, former teacher of Perikhali Model Secondary School Alhaj Sheikh Sultan, headmaster of Baro Katali Secondary School Anadi Roy, headmaster of Perikhali Model Secondary School Shankar Kumar Saha and teachers from other schools were also present at the prize distribution ceremony.
At the closing ceremony, the chief guest Mr. Aftab Ahmed said, “The spontaneous participation of the students in the fest has inspired me. If such an event can be organized regularly, the continuity of the students can be maintained. In his speech as a special guest, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mr. SA Anwarul Kuddus called for organizing such events regularly on a small scale from the school fund on the school’s own initiative and not depending on the project.
The project has been organizing skill development training workshops for students, especially girls, of Perikhali Model High School and Barakatali Multipurpose High School in Rampal Upazila, with the aim of creating an attitude among students to use technology and science to solve practical problems and to develop them into skilled workers in the technology workplace. In continuation of this, this STEM fest was organized to encourage students to work in technology and science. The guests visited about 16 science projects of young students at the festival. Tamanna Akhter, a student of Barakatali Multipurpose High School, said, “Our initiative is not just for competition, but is the first step to becoming skilled in technology in the future.”
It is worth noting that to ensure the participation of girls, especially disadvantaged and underprivileged girls in technology and science-based activities to achieve the sustainable development goals of the Bangladesh government, under the auspices of the international organization Malala Fund and in collaboration with the Bangladesh Open Source Network, Bangladesh Freedom Foundation is conducting various activities, including skill-building training in science, mathematics, programming and robotics, for girl students from grades 6 to 8 of a total of 6 secondary schools in three coastal upazilas of Bangladesh: Rupsha in Khulna, Rampal in Bagerhat and Tala in Satkhira.
রামপালের মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি শিক্ষায় যুক্ত করার আয়োজন স্টেম ফেস্ট

কৃত্তিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা বিষয়ক পোস্টার তৈরী করেছে রামপাল উপজেলার পেড়িখালি মডেল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের দশম শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী প্রতিভা রায়। প্রতিভা জানে, আর অল্প কিছুদিনের মাঝে কর্মক্ষেত্রের একটা বড় জায়গা দখল করবে এই কৃত্তিম বুদ্ধিমত্তায় দক্ষ মানুষ। তাই শ্রেণীকক্ষে পড়াশুনার বাইরে রোবটিক্স আর প্রোগ্রামিং এর উপর প্রশিক্ষণ নেয়ার পর স্টেম ফেস্টের কন্টেস্টগুলোতে অংশগ্রহণ করেছে সে।
প্রতিভার মত রামপাল উপজেলার আরো প্রায় দেড় শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থীর অংশগ্রহণে বাগেরহাটের রামপাল উপজেলায় স্টেম এন্ড আইসিটি স্কিলস ফর দ্যা গার্লস অফ কোস্টাল এরিয়া প্রকল্পের আওতায় বাংলাদেশ ফ্রিডম ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত হয়ে গেলো বিজ্ঞান ও তথ্য প্রযুক্তি ভিত্তিক স্টেম ফেস্ট-২০২৫।
রামপালের পেড়িখালি মডেল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গনে দিনব্যাপী এই ফেস্টে প্রোগ্রামিং কন্টেস্ট, বিজ্ঞান ভিত্তিক প্রকল্প প্রদর্শণী, উদ্ভাবনী আইডিয়া নিয়ে পোস্টার উপস্থাপনা, রোবটিক্স প্রতিযোগিতাসহ বিভিন্ন আয়োজনে অংশগ্রহণ করে রামপাল উপজেলার সাতটি মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা। বিদ্যালয়গুলোর মাঝে রয়েছে- পেড়িখালি মডেল হাইস্কুল, বড়কাটালি বহুমুখী হাইস্কুল, ঝনঝনিয়া মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, ডাকরা বহুমুখী মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, রামপাল পাইলট মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, শ্রীফলতলা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় ও পেড়িখালি দাখিল মাদ্রাসা।
রোবটিক্স কন্টেস্টে রোবোকারের মোটর টা ঠিকমত কাজ না করায় বেশ মন খারাপ পেড়িখালি বিদ্যালয়ের দশম শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী উম্মে হাসিবা অর্ণার। কিন্তু, কন্টেস্টে নিজের এই মন খারাপ থেকে আরো বেশী করে চর্চার প্রতিজ্ঞা করে অর্ণা। অন্যদিকে, এই স্টেম প্রকল্পের আওতায় আয়োজিত শিক্ষক প্রশিক্ষণের পর উপজেলা কতৃপক্ষের প্রদানকৃত রোবটিক্স কিট দিয়ে লাইন ফলোয়িং রোবট কার তৈরী করার চেষ্টা করেছে ঝনঝনিয়া মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী সিয়াম। ছয়টি বিদ্যালয়ের পাশাপাশি পেড়িখালি মাদ্রাসার ৬জন মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীও তাদের তৈরী স্বয়ংক্রিয় লাইট তৈরী করে প্রোজেক্ট উপস্থাপনায় পুরস্কার জিতে নেয় ।
ফেস্টের সমাপনী আয়োজনে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সহকারী কমিশনার ভূমি জনাব আফতাব আহমেদ। পুরস্কার বিতরণী পর্বে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপজেলা মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা কর্মকর্তা জনাব এস এ আনোয়ারুল কুদ্দুস, স্টেম প্রকল্পের প্রকল্প ব্যবস্থাপক শাখিরা আফরোজ, পেড়িখালি মডেল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক শিক্ষক আলহাজ্ব শেখ সুলতান , বড় কাটালী মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক অনাদি রায়, পেড়িখালি মডেল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক শংকর কুমার সাহা এবং অন্যান্য স্কুল থেকে আগত শিক্ষকমন্ডলী ।
সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি জনাব আফতাব আহমেদ বলেন, “ফেস্টে শিক্ষার্থীদের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত অংশগ্রহণ আমাকে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে । এমন আয়োজন নিয়মিত করতে পারলে শিক্ষার্থীদের ধারাবাহিকতা ধরে রাখা যাবে” । বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে উপজেলা মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা কর্মকর্তা জনাব এস এ আনোয়ারুল কুদ্দুস প্রকল্পের উপর নির্ভরশীল না থেকে বিদ্যালয়ের নিজস্ব উদ্যোগে বিদ্যালয় তহবিল থেকে এমন আয়োজন ছোট পরিসরে নিয়মিত করার আহবান জানান।
শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে বাস্তবিক সমস্যা সমাধানে প্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞানকে কাজে লাগানোর মনোভাব সৃষ্টি ও প্রযুক্তি কর্মক্ষেত্রের জন্য দক্ষ হয়ে গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে রামপাল উপজেলার পেড়িখালি মডেল হাইস্কুল ও বড়কাটালি বহুমুখী হাইস্কুলের শিক্ষার্থী, বিশেষ করে মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালা আয়োজন করে আসছে প্রকল্পটি। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞানভিত্তক কাজের উৎসাহ দিতে আয়োজিত হল এই স্টেম ফেস্ট। উৎসবে ক্ষুদে শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রায় ১৬টি বিজ্ঞান প্রকল্প ঘুরে দেখেন আগত অতিথিবৃন্দ। বড়কাটালি বহুমুখী হাইস্কুলের শিক্ষার্থী তামান্না আক্তার বলেন, আমাদের এই উদ্যোগ শুধু প্রতিযোগিতার জন্য নয়, বরং ভবিষ্যতে প্রযুক্তিতে দক্ষ হয়ে গড়ে ওঠার প্রথম ধাপ।
উল্লেখ্য, বাংলাদেশ সরকারের টেকসই উন্নয়ন লক্ষ্যমাত্রা অর্জনে প্রযুক্তি ও বিজ্ঞান ভিত্তিক কর্মকান্ডে মেয়েদের, বিশেষ করে উপকূলের পিছিয়ে পড়া এবং কম সুবিধাপ্রাপ্ত মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করতে আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থা মালালা ফান্ডের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় ও বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্কের সহযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের তিনটি উপকূলীয় উপজেলা খুলনার রূপসা, বাগেরহাটের রামপাল এবং সাতক্ষীরার তালা উপজেলার মোট ৬টি মাধ্যমিক স্কুলের ৬ষ্ঠ থেকে ৮ম শ্রেণীর মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য বিজ্ঞান, গণিত, প্রোগ্রামিং ও রোবটিক্স এর উপর দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণসহ বিভিন্ন কর্মকান্ড পরিচালনা করছে বাংলাদেশ ফ্রিডম ফাউন্ডেশন।
