Bangladeshi students participating in international Olympiads were welcomed with flowers

The Bangladesh team that participated in the first International Artificial Intelligence (AI) Olympiad held in Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia in August-September last year, the 21st World Robot Olympiad held in Turkey in November, and the 26th International Robot Olympiad in South Korea in January 2025 were welcomed with flowers.

They were welcomed with flowers and presented with mementos at a reception held at Auditorium 71 of Daffodil Plaza in the capital yesterday. The reception was organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN), the organizer of the Bangladesh leg of these Olympiads, and in collaboration with Daffodil International University.

Present at the reception were Mamluk Chabir Ahmed, Managing Director of Computer Services Limited, Architect Hasnaun Sabih, Country Director of Volunteer Association for Bangladesh, Mohiuddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Mobile Subscribers Association, Khandaker Khalid Hasan, Deputy Managing Director of e-Generation, Ahnaf Hossain Rafi, Head of AI of Intelligent Machines, Khandaker Shahid Imam, Director of Texcotech and others. At the beginning of the event, Professor BM Mainul Hossain, Director of the Institute of Information Technology of Dhaka University, described the activities of these Olympiads this year and congratulated the winners. At that time, Group CEO of Daffodil Family Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman, President of BDOSN Munir Hasan and many others were present. By organizing the Bangladesh edition of such Olympiads, BDOSN is working to provide opportunities for the country’s students to showcase their skills at the international level, said Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Professor of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Dhaka and Vice President of BDOSN.

At one stage of the program, Sadia Anjum Pushpa, a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Arefin Anwar, a student of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and College, and Arietti Islam, a student of Manipur High School and College, shared their experiences of participating in the international edition of these Olympiads. In addition, Nashitat Zainah Rahman, Abrar Shahid and Iqbal Samin Prithul shared their experiences about their research published at the international level.

It is worth noting that the Bangladesh edition of the International AI Olympiad, World Robot Olympiad and International Robot Olympiad is organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN). In addition to selecting teams for the international level, their regular training, and their participation in international Olympiads, BDOSN has been working on this.
