Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on organizing the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad 2025 (BdAIO). This initiative aims to promote artificial intelligence (AI) among students across Bangladesh and prepare them for prestigious international AI competitions.
BdAIO 2025 will include a series of activities, such as preparatory workshops, awareness campaigns, competitions, and follow-up sessions, to identify and nurture high school students (up to HSC or equivalent) with exceptional AI skills. The ultimate goal is to form teams from the most talented participants who will represent Bangladesh in international AI competitions like the International AI Olympiad (IAIO) and the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).
The MoU signing ceremony took place at BUBT, in the presence of key officials from both institutions. The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, and Professor Dr. B M Mainul Hossain, Team Leader of BdAIO and General Secretary of BdOSN. Other dignitaries present included Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN, Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Registrar of BUBT, and senior officials from both organizations, including deans of various faculties and IQAC and BRIC Director, Professor Santi Narayan Ghosh.
During the ceremony, Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing its importance in shaping the future of AI in Bangladesh. Professor Dr. B M Mainul Hossain also spoke about the Olympiad’s role in providing a platform for students to showcase their AI talents. Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN, highlighted the significance of this collaboration in advancing the country’s AI capabilities, and Professor Santi Narayan Ghosh spoke about the importance of skill development and global exposure for students in the AI field.
The event will include an awareness campaign, workshops, and a three-stage competition: online prelims, regional hybrid, and a final offline national round. Top participants will attend a National AI Camp, with opportunities to compete in global AI contests and be honored at a special reception.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in fostering AI talent in Bangladesh and equipping students with the necessary skills to compete at an international level. The schedule for BdAIO 2025 may be adjusted based on mutual agreement between BdOSN and BUBT in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

২০২৫ সালের বাংলাদেশ আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইনটেলিজেন্স অলিম্পিয়াড আয়োজনের উদ্দেশ্যে বাংলাদেশ ইউনিভার্সিটি অব বিজনেস এন্ড টেকনোলজি (বিইউবিটি) এবং বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্কের মধ্যে একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক (এমওইউ) স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে। এই উদ্যোগটির মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশের শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইনটেলিজেন্স (এআই) সম্পর্কে ধারণা সৃষ্টির পাশাপাশি আন্তর্জাতিক এআই প্রতিযোগিতায় তাদের অংশগ্রহণের প্রস্তুতিতে সহায়ক হবে।
বাংলাদেশ আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইনটেলিজেন্স অলিম্পিয়াড ২০২৫-এর আওতায় বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম অন্তর্ভুক্ত থাকবে। এর মধ্যে প্রস্তুতিমূলক কর্মশালা, সচেতনতা মূলক প্রচারণা এবং এআই সম্পর্কিত বিভিন্ন সেশন অন্যতম। এসবই শিক্ষার্থীদের এআই-সংক্রান্ত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে সহায়ক হবে। এই উদ্যোগের মূল লক্ষ্য দেশের সবচেয়ে প্রতিভাবান শিক্ষার্থীদের একটি দল গঠন করা। যারা আন্তর্জাতিক এআই অলিম্পিয়াড এবং আন্তর্জাতিক অলিম্পিয়াড ইন আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইনটেলিজেন্সে মতো আন্তর্জাতিক আসরে বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করবে ।
সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠানে দুই প্রতিষ্ঠানের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। চুক্তিটি স্বাক্ষর করেন বিইউবিটির উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. এ বি এম শওকত আলী এবং বিডিএআইও-এর দলনেতা ও বিডিওএসএন-এর সাধারণ সম্পাদক অধ্যাপক বি এম মইনুল হোসেন।
অনুষ্ঠানে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাংলাদেশ ওপেন সোর্স নেটওয়ার্কের সভাপতি জনাব মুনির হাসান, বিইউবিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. মোঃ হারুন-অর-রশিদ, উভয় প্রতিষ্ঠানের অন্যান্য সিনিয়র কর্মকর্তাগণ, বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন এবং বিইউবিটি আইকিউএসি ও বিআরআইসি-এর পরিচালক অধ্যাপক শান্তি নারায়ণ ঘোষ।
অনুষ্ঠানে বিইউবিটির উপাচার্য বলেন, “এই অলিম্পিয়াড বাংলাদেশের এআই খাতে নতুন দিগন্ত উন্মোচন করবে।” অধ্যাপক বি এম মইনুল হোসেন তার বক্তব্যে বলেন, “এই উদ্যোগ প্রযুক্তি ক্ষেত্রে আমাদের শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্তর্জাতিক মঞ্চে বাংলাদেশকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করার সুযোগ করে দেবে।” বিডিওএসএন-এর সভাপতি মুনির হাসান বলেন, “এই সমঝোতা স্মারক দেশের এআই দক্ষতাকে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে।” অধ্যাপক শান্তি নারায়ণ ঘোষ তার বক্তব্যে এআই দক্ষতার উন্নয়ন এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের বৈশ্বিক সুযোগ-সুবিধা অর্জনের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন।
প্রতিযোগিতাটি তিনটি পর্যায়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে—প্রথমে অনলাইন প্রাথমিক রাউন্ড, তারপর আঞ্চলিক হাইব্রিড রাউন্ড, এবং শেষ পর্যায়ে চূড়ান্ত জাতীয় রাউন্ড, যা অফলাইনে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। শীর্ষস্থানীয় প্রতিযোগীদের গ্লোবাল এআই প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ প্রদান করা হবে, পাশাপাশি আন্তর্জাতিক এআই ইভেন্টে বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিদের সম্মান জানাতে একটি বিশেষ সংবর্ধনার আয়োজন করা হবে।এই উদ্যোগ বাংলাদেশের এআই প্রতিভা বিকাশে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে কাজ করবে এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে প্রতিযোগিতার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা অর্জনে সহায়তা করবে।
