Dhaka January 25 2025 :
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus delivered the following message on the occasion of ‘International Customs Day’ tomorrow:
“Like other countries of the world, I welcome the initiative of the National Board of Revenue to celebrate ‘International Customs Day-2025’ in Bangladesh. As a member state of the WCO-World Customs Organization, Bangladesh is also celebrating International Customs Day along with other countries of the world, keeping in mind the main theme ‘Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity’. On this occasion, I extend my warm greetings to all concerned, including the officers and employees, service recipients and partners of Bangladesh Customs.
Bangladesh Customs has a unique role in continuing the country’s economic activities, including expanding international trade, increasing foreign investment, and protecting domestic industries and markets. The skilled manpower of Bangladesh Customs has been improving the quality of life of the people of the country by ensuring the country’s revenue collection as well as the country’s environment, health protection and international trade information import-export process. In this context, I think this year’s theme of Customs Day – ‘Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity’ is very timely and important.
In building a changed Bangladesh, I think Bangladesh Customs will restore the momentum of the country’s economy by facilitating import-export and ensuring safe supply of goods. In addition, in the current global, political and economic context, I think that the skilled manpower of Bangladesh Customs will ensure the rapid inspection, customs clearance and clearance of import-export goods in a technology-based manner. As a result, the supply chain of goods will be well-organized, and the dynamism of the country’s economy will be ensured. I express my expectation that Bangladesh Customs will play a leading role in building a rich revenue reserve by strengthening and strengthening the foundation of the country’s economy.
“I wish the ‘International Customs Day-2025’ a complete success.”
